For a while, my dad has said that he would fly my sister Vanessa out to visit us so we could have no excuses for not seeing each other. Now that she is living in AZ again, we convinced my dad to follow through with his promise.
With really quick plans, she flew to see us a week later. (Allegiantair.com has really awesome rates for last minute flights from Mesa, AZ - Grand Rapids, MI . . . sometimes. This time we were lucky!)
This post and the next will be some fun things that we did for her first ever trip to MI!
First on the list . . . meeting Avery for the first time!
Avery loved her pink phone! She let Nessa hold her right from the get-go and was happy being with her. Which is a first for anyone!
The boys also had fun playing around.
The blueberry season is almost done here, so we picked about 5 lbs. worth.
and ate a lot too!
Roswell ate considerably less this year, but he still was helping himself just fine. :)
Vanessa was a pro.
Avery seemed to get the best, everyone gave her blueberries at every turn. I don't know how many she actually got. She also enjoyed pulling the leaves off the bushes.
Avery cuddling with Auntie Nessa.
Friday we all took a trip to the beach in Holland, MI. It was raining. Therefore, no one else was at the beach! We were going to get wet anyway, so it didn't ruin our plans!
A self-portrait, because I'm not usually in pictures on here.
I love this man, and it seems that he loves me too! :)
Nessa raced the boys to scare the sea gulls.
Then the sun came out and the boys got to play.
and girls too!
It was fun to relax. We forgot, because of the rain, to put any sunscreen on. We all got burned as a consequence and are paying for it now. :(
hard at work
I'm not so sure he was reading. . .
I love this face on Avery.
The boys wanted to be buried, so Vanessa did as they requested.
I threw in a hand too.
Mr. Elliott the Sand-man.
Ross joined too, 3 peas in a sandbed.
and a sweet pea on top.
Then mommy got tackled by Aunt Nessa and buried too.
Isn't this where all the fear factor bugs come out? I got a lot of sand in the face from Roswell though.
The Mommy mermaid.
Of course, turn-about is fair play, so Nessa got to have her turn to be a mermaid as well.
Let me tell ya, clean up afterwards was not fun at all!
All the travelers snoozing on the drive home.
Well, not Donovan, he was wide awake!
To finish off the day, we went to our favorite local ice cream shop, Scoopy Do's for a nice cool treat.
They're getting a lot better at eating a cone!
A nice finish to the day!
