Canned

Well, we couldn't think of many different tomato recipes besides salsa, stuffed tomatoes, and tomatoes in pasta, so I ended up having to can them. It wasn't too difficult. If they're firm enough, you can use an apple slicer to core and slice them. That saved a lot of time. There were a lot of large ones that I couldn't squeeze into a jar. Two were actually too big to use the apple slicer!

If you still have a great tomato involved recipe, I can still use it. We still have many tomatoes yet to be picked. At least I know I can easily can them if time runs out.

I really enjoy your blog posts. I love your house, very roomy! I've got no ideas for tomatoes, sorry. They do look pretty all jarred up though, so they are serving a purpose in that way.
Take care!

Something that I've done with whole tomatoes is making my wheat chili, regular chili, and also I've put a round steak in the crock-pot and dumped a can of whole stewed tomatoes. Cook it like a regular roast. It comes out tender and yummy. You can also use that meat for burritos. You're quite the homemaker sis. I'm proud of you.

That's neat- you got your adorable house, all those little animals around and your not only growing your own veggies- you're canning them! Awesome! It's just what we hope for some day soon...
